Mirrorplay

A female author grappling with the advent of AI in cinema, and a future filmmaker crafting works from its living room with an omnipotent AI, each create a film to escape their own creative impasse. By chance, the films end up telling the story of each other's genesis—a dystopian romcom and a grotesque retro art-house drama—chasing each other until the game of mirrors becomes unsustainable.

Both appear as protagonists in the other's film, perfect alter-egos in a meta-narrative that reflects their creative crises, projecting them into another era: a golden age for one, and a foreseen nightmare for the other. Yet, both also insert themselves into their own films as antagonists, dynamic elements in constant tension with the other, to reaffirm their control over the imagined, distant worlds.

For most of the movie, we believe the alternating films we see are indeed the ones created by the two, dramatizing each other's development hell. But as the story unfolds, we realize that nothing is as it seems.
